Burlington, ON – June 11th, 2017 – The Honourable Karina Gould, your Member of Parliament for Burlington recognized 43 outstanding members of our community at the City of Burlington’s Citizenship Affirmation Ceremony during the Sound of Music Festival on June 11th, 2017.
Citizenship is not just about the rights conferred on Canadians but also what we give back and contribute to our community. During this milestone year, Burlingtonians have the opportunity to reflect on contributions made to our community, society, and country. Big or small, people can have a meaningful impact in their communities. This award was designed to recognize the hidden heroes in Burlington whose service to our community may not always be seen but is certainly felt by so many.
During the Sesquicentennial Citizenship Award Ceremony, MP Gould recognized 43 Burlington residents for their contributions to our community, society and country. Award recipients range in age from 11 to 98. They reflect individuals who welcome newcomers, help those less fortunate, and have a passion for sport, health care, seniors, education and so much more. Recipients received a special limited edition 150th Anniversary pin that contains a special piece of Canadiana, copper from the roof of Parliament.
Congratulations to MP Gould’s Sesquicentennial Citizenship Award Recipients:
Angelo and Diane Bentivegna
Jeff and Joelle Cooling
Leena Sharma Seth
