In April, Canadians celebrated National Volunteer Week; a time to formally recognize volunteerism in our communities. I had the opportunity to greet and thank many amazing volunteers who generously give the gift of their time, talent, and energy for others. This includes those who participated in the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, completing over 450 tax returns for low-income residents and seniors in Burlington. I am also grateful to the Burlington Youth Council, who supported the launch of my first annual Volunteer Appreciation Night. We enjoyed an evening of celebration and the occasion to recognize the service of over 40 volunteers in our community.
