BURLINGTON, ONT. – Residents of Burlington will soon benefit from federal Gas Tax Fund (GTF) investments in local infrastructure that will help grow the middle class, create a healthy community and promote sustainable development and long-term prosperity for Canadian families.
This year, Burlington will receive $5,598,729 in annual funding through the indexed federal Gas Tax Fund for municipal infrastructure like public transit, water and wastewater, local roads, sports and recreation facilities and tourism infrastructure. The projects will generate economic growth and create jobs to help ensure that the Halton Region remains among the best places in the world to live.
The federal Gas Tax Fund continues to make a difference in Burlington and the Halton Region. The GTF has helped our community through investments in new public transit shelters and buses, and provided repairs to wastewater plants and water mains across Halton. This Fund provides the City of Burlington with flexible, predictable funding to address our community’s biggest priorities.
The Government of Canada is proud to deliver predictable, long-term funding to help municipalities build and revitalize their local public infrastructure and ensure a high quality of life for generations to come. We know that partnerships across all levels of government are essential for our communities to prosper and flourish.
“The Federal Gas Tax Fund provides long-term, stable infrastructure funding that continues to make a positive impact and help grow the middle class. Investing in our roads, public transit systems and clean water infrastructure positively impacts all Burlington residents, helping our local businesses and making our community more environmentally sustainable. We will continue to work with provincial and municipal counterparts to ensure Burlington remains one of the best places in Canada to live, work and raise a family.”
